$80 Vs. $250,000 – Hill Billy Justice – He Must Be A Red Neck

I am at a lost for words, really! When Jack Herbst and his neighbour Ron Morphis fell out over an $80 debt, there was only one course of action.

Herbst, 63, drove a front-end loader from his home in Yoder, Colorado, around to Mr Morphis’s house – and kept driving straight through the middle of it.

Police have arrested Herbst on suspicion of causing an estimated $250,000 in damages and, while it is up to the courts to decide whether Herbst is guilty of the crime, police say they have fairly compelling evidence.

The victim’s sister, Loranne McLaughlin, told AOL News that the whole thing kicked off after her brother had agreed to buy a trailer from Herbst for $400 – but had only paid $320.

She says Mr Morphis was planning to pay the rest but earlier this week Herbst allegedly left a voice mail on Mr Morphis’s phone saying: ‘I want my $80 or I’m going to flatten everything.’

On Wednesday, Mr Morphis returned from work to his home in Bellemont Road – to discover he no longer had much of a home to return to.

Among the damage was a destroyed brick garage and a two-bedroom addition to the house, damaged vehicles and farm equipment, an overturned boat, and a stand of elm trees that had been torn from the ground.

The final insult was a trench dug across his driveway. Mr Morphis suspected Herbst and called the police.
